Giving Back: Our Sustainability Initiative

Since 2022 we have been involved in 21 international carbon avoidance projects where we have helped reduce 6.58 tonnes of CO2e across the globe which is equivalent to 5 long haul flights, 20 meters of sea ice saved and 16, 325 miles driven in a car.

Projects We Support

Read about some of the reforestation, habitat restoration, carbon avoidance and removal projects we support below. We have provided snippets showing some of the projects which helped us reduce 6.58 tonnes of CO2e across the globe between 2022-2024. Our journey continues into 2025 and we hope to bring more positive change to our planet.

All our customers are also contributing to this change as for every customer order we receive at Taniska, 1 Tree is planted. Together we can make more positive environmental impact.

The Keo Seima Wildlife Sanctuary (KSWS) Project

Protecting over 166,000 hectares of biodiverse rainforest

Efficient ‘Jikokoa’ Cookstoves Project

Distributing Cleaner Cookstoves in Kenya

The stoves reduce indoor air pollution by 65%, generating health benefits for the families who rely on them.

Zoba Debub Community Boreholes Project

Repairing water boreholes in Eritrea

This Zoba Debub Community Boreholes project will provide long term access to safe and clean drinking water to hundreds of households within the Zoba Debub district in Eritrea, using borehole technology. Boreholes are used to access safe clean water from underground. Holes as deep as 100m are drilled into the ground, and drilling pipes are installed. A hand pump is then fitted meaning that water can be pumped out by hand.

Katingan Mentaya Restoration and Conservation Project

Peatland Restoration and Conservation in Indonesia

The Katingan Mentaya Restoration and Conservation Project is located within the districts of Katingan and Kotawaringin Timur in the Central Kalimantan Province of Indonesian Borneo.  The project sets out to protect and restore 149,800 hectares of peatland ecosystem.  This includes the protection of existing peatland forest through satellite monitoring and fire management. This project works to improve the well-being and sustainable economic prospects of the 49,000 people in 39 villages, through initiatives such as micro-finance loans to support local female-led business, youth job training and internships, and the provision of health education and wellbeing support for the most vulnerable community members. The Katingan Mentaya Restoration and Conservation Project is a conservation enterprise that is founded on the understanding that forest environments, wildlife, and local rural communities are all closely connected and intertwined, and that to improve one element, you must engage all three.
